- 1) Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 ~ Traditional coverage from Wall Street’s
Broker Dealers became costlier to provide eliminating firms’ ability to fund
research from investment banking activities.
2) Electronic trading ~ With the advent of electronic trading, commission
rates dropped from $0.40 to $0.60 a share to a few pennies, greatly reducing
